Obituary of William J. Doyle William J. “Billy” Doyle, Jr., 73, of Syracuse, formerly of Hannibal, passed away Wednesday. He was proud of his military service, which began when he enlisted in the Army in 1964. Billy completed Combat Infantry Medic training and then went to Panama, to complete jungle training, before serving in Vietnam. He received the Combat Medic Badge for performing his medic duties under fire. After Vietnam, Billy worked 30 years in construction with the Oswego Painters Local 38 and Oswego Laborer’s Local 214. He was an active member of both the VFW and American Legion. He was predeceased by his parents, William Sr. and Eleanor Doyle; brother, Mike Doyle and brother-in-law, Jack Flint. Billy is survived by his wife, Elaine Saunders; daughters, Renee (Steve) Griffin and Erin (Michael) Schane; sisters, Rita Flint, Martha (Bobby) Sage, Elly (Dave) Rea, Maureen Doyle, Margie (Steve) Kinville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. As were Billy’s wishes, there are no services. Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Dr., Auburn, NY 13021. Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal, has care of arrangements.
