Obituary of Shirley I. Cotton Shirley I. Cotton, 87, of North Port, FL formerly of Fulton, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 30 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital. A native of the town of Granby, she lived in the Fulton–Oswego area most of her life before moving to Florida in 1973. Shirley had worked as a Matron at the Oswego County Jail in Oswego and as a Special Deputy for the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in North Port, FL; Fraternal Order of Police, Oswego County Lodge #1; Oswego County Sheriff’s Benevolent Association; Elizabeth Chapter #105, Order of the Eastern Star in Fulton; V.F.W. Post #8203 Ladies Auxiliary of North Port, FL; Military Order of the Cooties Ladies Auxiliary, Pup Tent #72; Life member of the V.F.W. National Home for Children and the Ladies of Elks, B.P.O.E. Lodge #2632 of North Port, FL. Surviving are her husband, Raymond Cotton of North Port, FL; a son, Gary (Tecia) Cotton of Oswego; grand-daughters, Erin Hall and Chelsea Meehan of Oswego; a niece, Claudia Freeden Karppala of Sandy Creek and a nephew, Mark Freeden of Fulton. She was predeceased by her parents, Claude Lewis and Harriet Edley Lewis and sister, Norma Freeden. Calling hours are from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 5 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street in Fulton, NY. Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with burial at Mt.
