Scott A. Downing

Obituary of Scott A. Downing Scott Alan Downing, 60, of Volney passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978-1982. Scott was previously employed at Container Corp. in Fulton. He recently retired from Onondaga County Water Environment Protection as an Instrumentation Technician. Scott earned his Associates degree in Electronics from Bryant and Stratton College. He enjoyed four-wheeling with his brothers and friends and traveling with his wife, Penny. Scott was predeceased by his mother, Norma “Cookie” Bracy Downing; his younger brother, Eric Downing and his two furry companions, Sam and Liddy. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Penny (Bond) Downing; father, Alan “Bud” Downing; two brothers, Michael Downing and Mark (Barbara) Downing as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Social distancing and face coverings will be required. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane CNY, 4915 West Taft Road, Liverpool, NY 13088 or charity of choice in Scott’s memory.
