Obituary of Royal A. Westcott February 27, 2017 Roy Westcott, 87, of Baldwinsville, NY, who lived in many other locations, died February 27, 2017. He was born December 21, 1929, to Corinne and Carlton Westcott in Ogdensburg NY. Roy graduated from Hannibal (NY) High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Navy. In 1951, he graduated from Kings Point with a Bachelor’s of Science and pursued a rewarding career in engineering. In 1952, while he was a Merchant Marine on the Great Lakes he met, fell in love, and soon married Marguerite (Margie) Ferro. Roy was a flight instructor in Pensacola FL in 1956. His career as an engineer began in Santa Monica, California and also took him to many other areas including Syracuse, NY, Houston, TX, Santa Maria, CA, Philadelphia, PA, Phoenix, AZ, Atlantic City, NJ, and Ridgecrest, CA. While they were managing their many moves, Roy and Margie raised four children who were all born in different states. In retirement, they traveled between Upstate, NY and the Central Coast of CA and in 2014 moved to Baldwinsville, NY to be closer to grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family. Roy was an avid game player, enjoyed football, golf, loved boating, and the outdoors. To him, all the best things came from Upstate, NY; Thousand Islands was “God’s country.” Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margie Westcott of Baldwinsville, NY; three sons and a daughter; Gary Westcott and Steve Westcott of Hannibal, NY, Susan Westcott of San Luis Obispo, CA and Daniel Westcott of Los Angeles, CA. There will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 744, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or Belgium Gold Springs Fire Department, 7920 River Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 in Roy’s memory.
