Robert L. Gulliver, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 72. Born in Oswego, New York, Robert was a cherished resident of Phoenix, NY, where he spent his life surrounded by family and friends.
Robert was a master carpenter and the proud owner of Gulliver Contracting, where he dedicated his career to building and creating with skill and precision. His talents extended beyond carpentry; he was an amazing musician and artist, known for his role as the lead singer in several rock 'n' roll bands. Despite his many talents, Robert was a humble man, known for his modesty and his pride in his children.
He was a valued member of the Liverpool Elks Lodge and enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing. Robert's love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Barbara A. Griffin-Gulliver, and his children: daughters Elizabeth (Randy) McDonald, Jessica (Zachary) Wakefield, and Amy Clary; and son Zachary (Diana) Gulliver. He was the proud grandfather of Katelynn, Emily, Grace, Madelynn, Meredith, Natalie, Sophia, and Wyatt, and great-grandfather to Reed, River, Haven, Aria, with three more great-grandchildren expected in 2026. He is also survived by his brothers, Dale (Christine) and Kevin (Lisa) Holiday, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lewis Gulliver II and Charlotte Gulliver, his sister Kathy, and his brother Ronnie.
