Patricia A. Kush, 72, of Fulton, NY, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Pontiac Nursing Home. Born in Fulton, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Arlene (Allen) Kush. Pat was a 1971 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School then earned her bachelor's degree from Elmira College. She worked for 37 years as a Social Studies teacher for the Fulton City School district. Pat was instrumental in the updating of the Social Studies regents exam. She was also a member of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) Political Action Committee where she worked to advocate for educators, public education professionals and retired teachers. Her dedication to NYSUT was recently recognized by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay with an Assembly citation. She was also a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish and served on the board of the Fulton Public Library. Pat was very interested in genealogy and was able to trace her family back to the Mayflower. She also loved her cats and donated generously to local animal shelters. Pat was predeceased by her brother, Andy, in 1980.
Surviving are her siblings, David (Janet) Kush, Steve Kush, Nancy (Len) Kush Ellis, Sue (Kyle) Griffis, Eugene (Portia) Kush, Lynda (Dick) Clark, Ted (Anne) Kush; 10 nieces and nephews, Nathan and Christopher Kush, Kristen and Andy Kush, Christopher (Tiffany) Ellis, Andrea Griffis, Jamie Jaskula, Matt (Steffani) Griffis, Sophie and Grace Kush; and several great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Pontiac Nursing Home for their professional, and compassionate care of Pat during her stay.
Calling hours will be from 5:30-7:30 pm on Friday, June 27 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 30 at 10 am at Holy Trinity Parish 309 Buffalo Street, Fulton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery following mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Paws Across Oswego County, 10 Klocks Corners Road, Oswego, NY 13126 or The Alzheimer’s Association, https://www.alz.org/centralnewyork, in Pat’s memory.
