Obituary of Mildred Cooper Brackett January 11, 2009 Mildred Cooper Brackett, 98, of Fulton died January 11, 2009 at the home of her daughter in Nedrow. Born in North Hannibal to Franklin and Mary Phillips Cooper, she was the youngest of five girls. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ethel Adamy, Lucy Judson, Mabel Foster, and Helen Simpkins. After graduating from Hannibal High School and Teacher Training School, she taught in the one room schoolhouse in Sterling Center at the age of 18. At 19 she became the lifetime partner of Robert Brackett whom she married in 1929. They then moved to Virginia where Robert was employed as a chemist. After three years they returned to Fulton where Robert was employed by P.C.K. (Nestle) as a chemical engineer. Mildred and Robert established the Fulton Frozen Food Locker Plant. They traveled the world with food processing and storage groups learning new developments in quick freezing foods. Mildred was a popular lecturer on travel, food storage, salesmanship and gemology. Robert and Mildred were members of a local and national Lapidary Societies. They enjoyed fishing and camping with their family in Canada. Mildred was an active volunteer in many local and national organization including The Sunshine Club, Fulton Soup Kitchen, Salvation Army, Dade County Hospital Auxiliary, Granby Seniors and F.I.S.H.. Mildred and Robert were married 57 years, they were long time members and actively involved at State Street United Methodist Church, Fulton. Mildred is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth B. (Harry) Barner of Rensselear, Brenda B. (David) DeGroat of Rochester and Roberta B. Bouck of Nedrow; a son, Robert M. (Paula) Brackett of Freeville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Calling hours are 12 noon to 2 p.m. Friday with a 2 p.m. service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
