Mary Elizabeth Howard, 87, of Sebastian, Florida passed away Monday June 30, 2025.
Mary was born to the late John Howard and Mary Mansfield Howard on August 30, 1937, in Fulton, New York. She received her BS in Health, Recreation and Physical Education at Brockport College, NY and Master’s degree in Physical Education from Cortland State in NY. She taught Physical Education for 33 years, retiring from the Burnt Hills School System in Burnt Hills, New York.
After retiring, Mary moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida and was a charter member of Barefoot Bay Citizens Observer Patrol. She was also the first and only woman of the Kiwanis Club Memorial Tree Committee and member of the Barefoot Bay HOA Executive Board. She was instrumental in helping to change addresses in the Barefoot Bay community for the safety of her neighbors to enable First Responders to find addresses quickly. She went door to door to get petitions, from the neighbors on 85 different streets resulting in Brevard County Address Assignment Office taking over the project
Mary is pre-deceased by her parents, siblings: Jack (Joyce) Howard, Eloise (Parker) Rockwood, Leigh Howard and nephew, Craig Howard. She is survived by her fur baby: Bandit, brother: James Kevin (Debbie) Howard, sister-in law: Susan Howard Distin, nieces and nephews: David Rockwood, Diane (Ed) Swiderski, Merrilee (John) Devaul, Janice Howard, Scott (Sally) Howard, Babette (Michael) Smith, Jimmy Howard and Sandy (Julio) Lopez as well as several great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by a great friend/neighbor, Bert Sweet, who is taking care of Bandit now.
Mary’s final resting place will be at Mount Adnah Cemetery in Fulton, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to your local hospice or Humane Society. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
