Obituary of Kathleen J. Butler Kathleen J. Butler passed away on Saturday, June 10 at Morningstar Care Center. A native of Watertown, she was a daughter to the late James and Mary Kelly. Kathleen married Arthur J. Butler on September 24, 1942 in Watertown, NY. He passed away in January, 1969. Mrs. Butler was employed as a rater at Great American Insurance Company in Watertown, NY for many years before moving to Syracuse, NY. She retired from Aetna Insurance Company, Syracuse, NY in 1985. Among her many pastimes were traveling. She toured Ireland twice, visiting her father’s home town there and later traveled to Texas and Hawaii after her retirement. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially wedding cakes for the family. She was a wonderful seamstress and had a passion for knitting. She passed the time playing cards with family and friends and enjoyed family gatherings, doting on the many great and great-great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Upon her retirement, she wintered in Lakeland and Edge Water, FL and spent summers at her cottage at Silver Shores in Sackets Harbor, NY. In later years she had resided with both her daughter in Weedsport, NY and her son, James in Central Square, NY. Kathleen was predeceased by two children in 1992; a son Arthur Butler and daughter Kay Barber and two sisters Martha Skinner and Betty Newtown. Surviving are her brother, James (Marsha) Kelly of Virginia; four children, Mary (Charles) Snyder of Weedsport, James (Cathy) Butler and Patrick (Dawn) Butler both of Central Square and Donald (Jean) Butler of Dexter; son-in-law, Clyde Barber of Central Square; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 13 with a service immediately following at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY 13069. Burial will be private.
