John E. Everson, 91, of Pennellville passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2026.
He was born in Syracuse to the late William C. and Margaret (Murphy) Everson and lived on the Everson farm on Rt. 173 in the Town of Manlius. His early schooling was in the one-room school at the corner of Palmer Rd. and Rt. 173. After graduating from Chittenango High, he joined the Air Force as a radio communication navigator technician, which got him to see most of the Far East. He loved the Philippines and China. His favorite plane was the P-38. He loved flying and worked to get his pilot’s license.
After his service years, he worked for Jack’s Radio & Television in Syracuse. He went on to work at GE retiring after 30 years.
He was a ham radio operator with the call sign WB2JFN since the early 1960s. Although he didn’t do much talking, he liked to listen to others. He loved his motorcycles and flew his RC planes until his eyes failed him.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanette; two sons, John of North Carolina and Jerry (Lori) of Liverpool, New York. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jill Ann. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A calling hour will be held from 11am-12pm on Monday, July 13th at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton with a service to follow at 12pm. Burial will be in Upson Corners Cemetery, Palermo, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oswego County SPCA https://www.oswegocountyspca.org/donate.html in John’s memory.
