Joan T. Case 89, of Fayetteville, NY, formerly of Red Creek, NY, passed away on July 24, 2025, with her family at her side. Born March 9, 1936, in Fulton, NY. She was the third child of six born to Kenneth and Dorothy Terpening. She graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, NY in 1953 and was also a 1957 graduate of Oswego State Teachers’ College Oswego, NY with a degree in Elementary Education. She married Allen “Pete” Case in 1956 and had 4 children. She was a member of the Fair Haven Community Church in Fair Haven, NY.
Joan was a teacher for the N. Rose Wolcott and Red Creek School Districts. She retired from the Red Creek School District in 1994 where she spent her days shaping the young minds of children in the first grade. Her love of reading was the cornerstone of her dedication to children of all ages.
Joan was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, traveling the country with her husband Pete and reading. She was known for her delicious potato salad, pies and overall great cooking.
She was predeceased by her parents Kenneth and Dorothy Terpening, a brother Phillip Terpening, sisters Phyllis Holmes and Paula Wray, and a son Gregory Case. She is survived by her husband of 68 years Allen “Pete” Case of Fayetteville, NY, a son Jeffrey (Kathy) Case of Saratoga, NY, daughters Cynthia (Steven) Keeling of Jefferson, OH and Amy (Daisy) Case of Cicero, NY, a daughter-in-law Melody Case of Fair Haven, two brothers Frank (Lissa) Terpening of Westcliffe, CO and Kenneth (Inga) Terpening of Arcata CA and a Sister-in law Cheryl Terpening of Tucson, AZ, 11 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Menorah Park: Comfort Care, 4101 East Genesee St. Syracuse, NY 13214, in Joan’s memory. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
