James F. DeMott

James F. DeMott, 61, of Sterling, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Crouse Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Oswego, a son to the late Robert and Bertina (DeBarr) DeMott. He was a graduate of Hannibal High School. Jim worked as an insulator for Hoag Drywall for over 30 years. He had strong faith and was the pastor for the Community Christian Church in South Hannibal. Jim was very artistic and loved woodcarving, painting, and making jewelry. He also loved his cats and couldn’t resist a kitten. Jim enjoyed reading and playing music but above all loved spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his brother, Timothy DeMott.

Surviving are his wife, Carole Massaro; his stepchildren, Michelle Reynolds, Cecelia Smith, and Joseph Massaro; eight grandchildren; two siblings, Ann DeMott and Jennifer (Les) Baker; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 11th at the IOOB Club, 1218 County Route 3, Hannibal, NY 13074. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
