Obituary of James P. Bassinger James P. Bassinger, 81, of Fulton, formerly of Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Seneca Hill Manor. He was born in 1937, in Gowanda, a son to the late Burton and Ruth Palmer Bassinger. Jim attended and graduated from the University of Buffalo. He retired from G.M. Motors, in Detroit Michigan, after 32 years of service. Jim enjoyed woodworking, remodeling and building homes. He was predeceased by his parents; wife of 52 years, Sally Peterson Bassinger; daughter, Carrie Miyahama; grandson, Kyle Bassinger; brother, Richard Bassinger and “mom”, Reba Peenstra. He is survived by his companion, Barbara Kuss; four children, Linda (David) Barker of Ohio, Michael (Sherry) Bassinger of Texas, Melanie (Kevin) Fanjoy of Colorado and Steven Bassinger of Michigan; son-in-law, Masanao Miyahama of Michigan; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two siblings, Jean Bassinger and Douglas (Sue) Bassinger; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bassinger; extended family, John (Kathi) Lischak, Sandra (Bob) Carey, Donna (Tony) Ruotolo and Walter (Barbara) Lischak; special “great-granddaughter”, Hailey Lischak as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at First United Church of Fulton, 33 South Third Street, Fulton, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the memorial fund of First United Church of Fulton, 33 South Third Street, Fulton, NY 13069, in Jim’s memory. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has care of arrangements.
