Obituary of Ivan D. Parsons Ivan D. Parsons, 92, of Volney, passed away on Tuesday, April 10th at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. A native of New Haven, he was a life resident of the Volney area. Ivan retired in 1986 as supervisor of mobile equipment at Alcan Aluminum Company in Oswego after 20 years. He had previously worked at Thompson & Johnson Equipment Company in Syracuse and Armstrong in Fulton. Ivan served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and Mt. Pleasant Grange #349. Ivan enjoyed automobiles and built a 1923 Ford Model T Depot Hack from parts and was a member of the Oneida Lake Region Car Club and Pathfinder Car Club. Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Fern Rice Parsons of Volney; three daughters, Colleen Scott, Laurie (Craig) Nelson and Diane (Joseph) Baldwin all of Volney; son-in-law, Charles Smart; grandchildren, Christopher Smart, Jamie McCarrison, Peter Scott, Coral Jablonsky, Craig Smart, Michelle Nelson, Joseph Baldwin II, Christy Billings, Justin and Jordon Baldwin; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank (Bernice) Parsons and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Claudia Smart in 2008, and by several siblings. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, April 16th at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2819 County Route 45, Fulton with services to follow at 5 p.m. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the church or Mt.
