George J. Wood

Obituary of George J. Wood George J. Wood, 94, of Scriba, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at home. He was born on March 27, 1923, in Fulton, a son to the late Floyd and Ethel Hall Wood. After 35 years of service George retired from Armstong Cork Co. in Volney. Some of his hobbies he enjoyed were woodworking, fishing and camping. He was predeceased by his wife, Sophie (Swiech) in 1998. He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his three daughters, Diane (Frank) Arena of Liverpool, Georgia Wood of Scriba and Anna (Steve) Buchiere of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Allison (Seamus) Burke of Texas and Alexander Buchiere of Palmyra; two great-grandsons, George and Gordon Burke of Texas; sister, Rosemary Sickler of Scriba; faithful dog, Gus as well as several nieces and nephews. All services will be held privately. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Volney.
