George C. Bough II, 74, of Oswego Town, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the VA Hospital after battling pulmonary fibrosis. Born in Fulton, he was a son to the late George C. Bough and Jennie (Foster) Bough. He was raised on his father’s farm, broke a lot of bones and had a rollicking good time as a teenager with his friends, neighbors and siblings. George was a graduate of Hannibal High School, went to dinner with John Lennon, then enlisted in the US Army. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran served in the military police and was trained as a mechanic. George worked as an electrician and served as union president at Nestles for 34 years until they closed. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and classic car enthusiast. George grew his own vegetables for 50 years. He was a picker, collector and animal lover. He will always be remembered for being a wonderfully loving grandfather and good family man. George was predeceased by his sister, Frances Donovan and his beloved cat, Sheba.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Carol (Beach) Bough; two children, Elizabeth (Chris) Bough Martin of Chittenango, NY, and George C. (Helsa) Bough III of Oslo, Norway; one grandchild, Declan Martin; sister, Dawn (George) Zwolinski and many foster siblings that were raised as family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Gary Sinise Foundation for veterans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 16th at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Parish, 107 W 7th Street, Oswego. A visitation will be prior to mass at 9:30 am. Burial with military honors to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Oswego. Anyone with a classic car is invited to join the procession. After the burial, all are invited to attend A Celebration of Life at 1:30 pm at Kristen’s Kitchen at Battle Island, 2150 State Route 48, Fulton, NY. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
