Eugene V. Pritchard

Obituary of Eugene V. Pritchard March 15, 2017 Eugene V. Pritchard, 92, a resident of Oswego, passed away March 15, 2017 at St. Luke Health Services. Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Roger and Doris Upcraft Pritchard. At age 20, he bought and farmed his grandfather, George Upcraft’s, farm in Sterling until Gene’s retirement. He loved family, farming and music. Gene was predeceased by five brothers, Donald Pritchard, Alfred Pritchard, Robert Pritchard, Olin Pritchard and Glenn Pritchard and infant sister, Ruth Ann Pritchard. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Evelyn (Shortslef) Pritchard; two daughters, Joan (Paul) Kelley of Sterling and Janis (Steven) Cianfarano of Hannibal; one brother, Warren Pritchard of Sterling; two sisters, Mary Joyce (Tom) Layo of Syracuse and Susan (Charles) Leavitt of East Syracuse; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. Spring burial will be at Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Journey of Faith United Methodist Church, 7721 State Route 104, Oswego, New York 13126 or Alzheimer’s Association, Central New York Chapter, 441 West Kirkpatrick Street, Syracuse, New York 13204-1305 in Gene’s memory.
