Douglas A. Cox Sr.

January 27, 1951 — March 24, 2026

Fulton

Douglas Alton Cox, Sr., know as Doug to all that loved him passed away on March 24, 2026, in Oswego leaving behind a quiet but lasting legacy of love and devotion.

Doug was born January 27, 1951, in Bangor, Maine to Margaret (Stockwell) and Herbert Cox II. He grew up with simple values in life. He drove school bus for Golden Sun Bus Service for almost 17 years, retiring in 2014.

In November of 1982, Doug married the love of his life, Rose, and they have been married almost 44 years. Together they built a life centered around family. One of Doug’s deepest sorrows was the loss of his daughter, Shannon, in 1977. We believe she was one of the many family members that greeted him with open arms.

Doug found peace in hunting, fishing and golfing. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Doug also loved watching old Western Shows. He also enjoyed his beloved redheaded conure parrot, Ruby.

Surviving are his wife, Rose (Brown) Cox; children, Melissa Warrick of Texas, Erinn (Jason) Moseley of Georgia, Daniel Cox of Fulton, Herbert Cox V of Tennessee and Douglas “Doug Jr.” Cox; siblings, Sandra Harrington, Elizabeth Cox, Janice Gates, Michael Cox, and James Cox. Doug was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and is also survived by several nieces and nephews to carry his spirit with them.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Margaret (Stockwell) Cox II, his daughter, Shannon and brother, Herbert Cox III.

Doug will be truly missed by many. Per his request, there are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
