Diane M. Miano, 63, of Hannibal passed away August 28, 2025 at University Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born to the late Arline and Robert Stuart, Sr. and was a lifetime Hannibal resident. Diane graduated from Hannibal High School, Class of 1980, and was a 63 year member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Hannibal.
She worked as a bus driver for the Hannibal Central School District from 1996-2011. Following her time with the Hannibal district, Diane then became the Transportation Supervisor for Jordan-Elbridge Central School District from 2011- 2025. She was currently the President-Elect of NYAPT (New York Association for Pupil Transportation) and in honor of her hard work and dedication to student transportation and contributions to the NYAPT scholarship fund, it will now be known as the “Diane Miano Memorial Scholarship” to carry on her legacy.
Dianes greatest joy in life was her family. According to her husband and children, she was the “worlds best cook” and the “strongest, most selfless mother a child could ask for”. She cherished the time spent relaxing with family on East Matunuck Beach in Rhode Island.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, William “Bill” Stuart and a brother-in-law, Larry Acevedo.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Miano, Jr.; son, Michael (Carmyn) Miano of Forest, VA; daughter, Amanda (Zachary Britton) Miano of Red Creek, NY, and son Michael (Maggie) Nichols of Forest, VA; grandchildren, Izayah, Aryana, and Owen; brothers, Robert Stuart, Jr. Of Haines City, FL, and Lee (Brenda) Stuart of Victory, NY; sisters-in-law, Roberta (James) Nabywaniec of Liverpool, NY and Jenny (Charles) Burrows of Chittenango, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 4:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal, NY 13074. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:15am Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 931 Cayuga St., Hannibal, NY, followed by burial in Hannibal Village Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to: Diane Miano Memorial Scholarship, www.nyapt.org/Awards.
