She was born on Thursday, March 11th, 1954, in Syracuse, New York, and lived a life filled with love and compassion for her family, friends, and animals.
Colleen is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Olin Ray Allen Jr., also of Phoenix, NY. She leaves behind her beloved nephew, Chad Murphy; great-niece, Haysley Berlinski; along with several cousins and many dear friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity. Colleen was predeceased by her loving parents, Arnold and Helen Yerdon, both of Redfield, NY and her sister, Keitha Murphy.
A graduate of Phoenix High School, Class of 1972, Colleen worked industriously throughout her life. Her career included roles at Syroco in Baldwinsville, Millers Brewery in Fulton, and Carrier Corporation in Syracuse. She culminated her professional journey with 10 years of dedicated service at Phoenix Central School before retiring. Her work ethic and commitment were admired by all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Colleen had a lifelong passion for horses, which brought her great joy. A lifetime member of the Harmony Acres Horse Club in Parish, NY, she spent countless hours caring for and enjoying the company of her cherished horses. Her love for her dogs was equally profound, as they provided her with companionship and happiness throughout her life.
A memorial service honoring Colleen’s life will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 12pm with a 1pm celebration of life to follow at Half-Shire Historical Society, 1100 County Route 48, Richland, NY 13144.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be brought to the memorial service for her husband, Olin, who will then direct all gifts to a charitable cause supporting horses in her memory.
Her family invites those who knew Colleen to leave special messages and memories by signing the guestbook, celebrating her rich and joyous life.
Colleen will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and compassion will remain in the hearts of those she touched.
