Obituary of Charles E. Barrus Charles E. Barrus, 86, of Fulton passed away at his home after a long illness. A Fulton native, he was the son of the late Charles and Marion Andrews Barrus. Charlie started working as a shoe repairman with Cortini’s Shoes in Fulton and later retired from Jefferson Smurfit Corp., formerly Container Corp. of Fulton. Charlie had a great appreciation for music; and enjoyed singing in the Fulton Men’s Chorus. He was an active member of the Fulton Lions Club, a lifetime member of the Fulton Polish Home and he enjoyed being a volunteer with Unity Acres. Charlie was an outdoor enthusiast and member of the Pathfinder Fish and Game Club. He very much enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and boating, but above all, he cherished the time he spent sharing stories and laughter with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Beverly (Cughan) Dunsmoor. Charlie will be forever loved by his wife of 65 years, Jean Barrus; children, Scott Barrus and Stephanie (Derick) Barrus-Stone; sister, Colleen (Barrus) Wilcox; uncle, Leo Andrews, several nieces and nephews from the Andrews, Cughan and Kush families. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Monday April 1 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., TuesdayApril 2 at Holy Trinity Parish, corner of Rochester and South Third Streets, Fulton. Spring burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
