Barbara A. Lyman, 91, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at home surrounded by her cats on her deceased daughter’s birthday. Born in the Bronx, she was a daughter to the late Louis and Mildred (Swanson) Harrell. She was a graduate of Cornell University and held a position in the Plant Pathology department until she graduated in 1956. Then she was the town clerk for numerous town where she lived over the years before moving on to the production line at Nestle Co retiring in the mid 90's. Barbara enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, crocheting, tatting, and embroidery. Barbara was a true cat lady and rescued and cared for many strays. She had a passion for flowers and had many flowerbeds around the property, gladiolas and irises being her favorites. Barbara was also an active member of the Empire State Theater and Musical Instrument Museum located in the Art & Home building at the NYS Fairgrounds. She enjoyed attending organ concerts there and volunteered at the museum during the fair. She will always be remembered for being a dedicated wife and mother, who supported her daughters with their horses, sheep, and chickens through 4-H. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her daughter, Kristina Lyman.

Surviving are her daughter, Kathryn (Lee “Tiger” Perry, Jr.) Johnston; her caregiver, Dan (Suzanne Ray) Rogers; and her beloved cats.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3-5 pm on Friday, April 24th at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an animal rescue of your choice in Barbara’s memory.
