Obituary of Barbara Jean Burke-Lewis Barbara Jean Burke-Lewis, age 68, passed away January 26, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born September 12, 1951 in Boston, Massachusetts to Joseph and Josephine Burke. She married her longtime love, Daniel Robert Lewis in 2004. Barb’s presence lit up a room. Her joyous laughter, her down to earth nature, her story telling and classic one liners made people gravitate towards her. She made friends everywhere she went. She had the most honest and genuine soul. Barb was an awesome woman. Barbara was a horse enthusiast. Horses were her passion in life. She was well learned in Standardbreds and harness racing and equestrian hunters. She taught riding lessons to students at local horse barns. Through her love of horses, she created many long-lasting relationships in the community. Barbara is survived by her husband, Daniel Lewis; son, Seth Schindler; daughter, Erin Cribbs and son in law Chad Cribbs; granddaughter, Lila Jean Cribbs; sisters, Elizabeth Walton, Pat Keefe, and Mary Lu Petty; brothers, Tom Burke and William Burke and her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and held very near and dear to her heart. We will honor Barbara’s life in Massachusetts this summer alongside her mother at a date to be determined in summer of 2020.
