Obituary of Barbara A. Blanchard Barbara A. Blanchard, 74, of Hannibal, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 after a hard fought battle with colon cancer with her wonderful family with her all the way. She was born on May 11, 1943, in Fulton, a daughter to the late Donald and Alice Meldrum Dexter. Barb was a teaching assistant with Oswego County B.O.C.E.S. for over 20 years, president of the Union, a friend to many and a stalwart advocate for children with disabilities. She was known for her delicious strawberry jam and was always making cookies for her family and friends. Barb could always be seen at her children’s and grandchildren’s soccer, basketball, softball and baseball games. She was predeceased by her brother, Donald Dexter. Barb will be greatly missed and forever loved by her husband of 57 years, Wendell, who always made her laugh in good times and bad; four children, Mark (Deb) Blanchard, Greg (Jen) Blanchard, Scott (Jody) Blanchard and Melissa (Scott) Baker; four grandchildren who she loved more than life, Zachary and Kasi Blanchard and Tenly and Tyson Baker; two sisters, Pam (James) Rolince and Linda (Tom) Leach; one sister-in-law, Barbara Dexter as well as several nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 11 at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, February 12 at Hannibal United Methodist Church, 320 Church Street, Hannibal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ARISE, 9 4th Ave., Oswego, NY 13126 or Hannibal United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 89, Hannibal, NY 13074 in Barb’s memory.
