Obituary of Anna May Miller Anna May Miller, 87, of Sterling, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at home surrounded by her devoted and loving family. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late John and Anna (Lewis) Pitts where she met her husband, Leon, who was stationed there while serving in the Army and later moved to the Hannibal area. Ann enjoyed gardening, shopping, bird watching and spending time with her family. She was a rare gem who was genuinely caring and kind, always willing to help and especially loved being around her children. Ann had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved dearly by her family and friends. She was a member of the senior citizens group know as the Sterling Silver Swingers. Ann retired from the Comstock Canning Factory and had previously worked at a cigar factory before moving to New York. Ann was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Leon; a grandson, Donavan F. Furlong, III; a sister, Mildred Mester of Michigan and a brother, John Pitts of PA. Surviving is a sister, Marlene Bramble of NJ; daughters, Barbara (Douglas) Hall of Sterling and Katharine (Charles) Smith of Oneida; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Callings hours will be from 11-1 pm on Saturday, July 13 with a funeral service to immediately follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal. Burial will be in Hannibal Village Cemetery.
