Allen C. "Pete" Case

Allen C. “Pete” Case, 93 of Syracuse, NY formally of Red Creek, NY, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, with his family by his side. Born in Belleville, NY on August 28, 1932, Pete was the fifth son of Allen and Retha Case. He graduated from Belleville Academy in 1950, Oswego State Teachers’ College in 1954 with degrees in Elementary and Science Education with concentrations in geology and astronomy. He married Joan Terpening in 1956 and had four children. He was a member of Fair Haven Community Church in Fair Haven, NY.

Pete was a teacher for the Red Creek Central School district until his retirement in 1990. He taught HS Science and Elementary children and coached Jr. Varsity and Varsity basketball. He was also involved with the yearbook as a photography club advisor. Pete was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed trivia, photography, fishing, bowling, golfing and camping. He was a member of the Wayne Hills Golf Club. Pete also loved traveling with his wife, Joan, covering the majority of the United States. He was known to sit under the stars pointing out constellations or hiking and talking about rock formations at length. He loved sharing his knowledge of the land and sky. 

Pete was predeceased by his wife Joan T. Case, parents Retha and Allen Case and a step-father Stanley Matteson, four brothers, Ronald Case, Donald Case, Gordon Case and William Case and a son Gregory Case.

He is survived by a son Jeffrey (Kathy) Case of Saratoga, NY, daughters Cynthia (Steven) Keeling of Jefferson, OH and Amy (Daisy) Case of Cicero, NY and a daughter-in-law Melody Case of Fair Haven, NY and a brother Roy (Carol) Matteson of Philadelphia, NY, 11 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pete’s memory to The Cottages at Garden Grove, 5411 Meltzer Ct, Cicero, NY 13039. Foster Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
